McKees Rocks Assembly Of God

McKees Rocks Assembly of God Vision Statement

We envision a church that embraces Holy Spirit led change. A church where the Holy Spirit may
have the freedom to touch and encourage each person who attends any service. We envision a
church where people from all walks of life, ethnicity, gender, and age groups experience God in
ways that demonstrate his love and commitment to them. We envision a church that is reaching
and stretching to be a responsible life-giving steward that we, members of the Church, are
mandated to be.

Our worship will be welcoming to as wide an audience as possible.  It will be intense and Holy
Spirit directed.  We will have more musicians on the worship team, including any and all qualified
instrumentalist available. We will also encourage other capable vocalists to participate.

We envision a church where the Mission begins at home. A church that deliberately reaches out
with the gospel of Jesus to the unchurched of the community. Our evangelism efforts will also
include short term missions trips to both foreign and home mission sites as well as the planting of
two or more new churches in the next five years.  We will conduct training for those involved to
assure the greatest level of effectiveness possible. We further envision this resulting in a healthy,
growing church, such that additional services need to be scheduled.

We see this happening among every age group from children through adult, to the extent that each
group is reaching their unsaved peers in the community with the gospel, resulting in a sustained
influence in the Stowe Township/McKees Rocks Area. An altar workers team will be developed to
minister to those coming to Christ as well as visitation teams to follow up and provide Pastoral care.

We will establish effective methods of discipleship and leadership development.  We will commit to
develop and maintain age specific programming that meets the identified needs of our community.
We see this including instruction ranging from new believers classes through advanced leadership
training.  We will pursue the use of cell groups, adult small groups and elective courses that will
provide an ongoing intimate setting for discipleship and fellowship as well as opportunities for
ministry.  These cell groups will be a means for extending the effectiveness of our Pastoral care for
the elderly, the sick, and otherwise shut-in. We will also use such tools as practical application
seminars.

Quarterly leadership meetings will be conducted to facilitate the dissemination of information, the
exchange of ideas, and to insure implementation of this Vision Statement.  We see these meetings
as crucial in assisting us in providing better follow through of ideas presented and maintaining our
focus to accomplish what we believe God has called us to do.

Furthermore, we will challenge and encourage individuals to discover develop and exercise their
God given talents and abilities. These individuals will then be used by God both within the church
and the greater community resulting in a sustained influence in the Sto-Rox area.

We envision a church that is involved in community activities and meeting community needs of
every nature, thus developing a greater trust within the community.  We imagine providing tangible
and intangible assistance to unwed mothers, broken families and others the Lord brings to our
attention, including home and foreign missionaries.  We can also see the value of performing
coordinated acts of kindness and community service in accomplishing this aim.

We will reach out to the youth by having the R.O.C.K. in use every day of the week and will have a
full time youth worker to coordinate the effort. We will provide a Café that will be designed to
attract the unsaved while encouraging the participants to yield to Christ and participate in a
discipleship program.  We envision this effort incorporating concerts, different types of games and
activities – large and small group as well as one on one – and snacks and refreshments.

We will provide, improve and maintain all of our facilities. We will take steps to make the church
handicapped accessible. We will provide appropriate transportation for all who need it with the
focus toward children and the elderly. An attractive nursery, staffed by trained and loving
individuals will be provided as needed to enable parents of small children to participate without
concern for their infants’ safety and well-being.
Convinced this vision can only be accomplished with God’s enabling and provision, we commit
ourselves to be faithful in corporate and individual prayer and fasting.
